Similarly, the Swiss startup Energy Vault has designed an automated system that stacks concrete blocks using excess energy. It generates energy by de-stacking these blocks. Projects like these are proving that gravity storage could be a cost-effective, long-life, and low-impact alternative or addition to lithium-ion batteries for energy storage.

Batteries lit the way, but now it's time to enhance and diversify our energy storage solutions to take the green energy revolution the distance.
